Qualifications

  • At least 10 years in credit control, receivables, claims, collections, or finance.
  • At least 5 years leading credit/collections teams.
  • Strong experience negotiating with insurance companies; healthcare/pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end credit control, claims, and collections across insurance, corporate clients, and government entities.
  • Lead transition to a single Credit Control, Claims & Collections function.
  • Define the department structure, operating model, policies, controls, and delegated authorities.
  • Manage end-to-end collection cycle and cash application.
  • Govern the insurance claims cycle from submission through settlement and reconciliation.
  • Establish SLAs with Commercial, Operations, IT, and Finance for data and documents.
  • Build senior relationships with finance, claims, and settlement teams at insurers and partners.
  • Identify and resolve root causes of rejected, delayed, or disputed claims.
  • Review financial and credit terms in customer contracts before approval.
  • Establish and enforce credit policies, limits, payment terms, and approval controls.
  • Manage receivables aging, collection plans, and escalation of overdue accounts.
  • Prepare accurate short- and medium-term collection forecasts for Treasury/FP&A.
  • Develop dashboards and management reporting (DSO, aging, claims status, forecast).
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Provide regular performance and risk reporting to the CFO.

Job description

Own the end-to-end credit control, claims, and collections cycle across insurance companies, corporate clients, and government entities.

The role is accountable for accelerating cash conversion, reducing overdue and disputed receivables, improving claims quality, and providing reliable collection forecasts to support liquidity management and future expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the transition to a single, clearly accountable Credit Control, Claims & Collections function.
  • Manage the controlled handover of processes, data, open balances, documentation, and stakeholder relationships from the relevant functions.
  • Define the department’s organizational structure, operating model, policies, procedures, controls, and delegated authorities.
  • Own the end-to-end collection cycle for insurance companies, corporate clients, and government entities.
  • Govern the insurance claims cycle from timely submission through follow-up, settlement, collection, cash application, and final reconciliation.
  • Establish clear SLAs with Commercial, Operations, IT, and Finance to ensure the timely availability and quality of data and supporting documents.
  • Build effective senior-level relationships with finance, claims, and settlement teams at insurance companies and partner institutions.
  • Identify and resolve the root causes of rejected, delayed, underpaid, or disputed claims.
  • Review financial and credit terms in customer contracts before approval.
  • Establish and enforce credit policies, credit limits, payment terms, and approval controls for exceptions.
  • Manage receivables aging, collection plans, payment commitments, disputes, and escalation of overdue accounts.
  • Prepare accurate short- and medium-term collection forecasts and provide timely inputs to Treasury and FP&A.
  • Develop dashboards and management reporting covering DSO, aging, claims status, collection performance, disputes, and forecast accuracy.
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Provide regular performance and risk reporting to the CFO.
Candidate Requirements
  • Available to join no later than December 1, 2026.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A relevant professional qualification or postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in credit control, receivables, claims, collections, or finance.
  • At least five years of direct, hands-on experience in credit control and collections.
  • Proven leadership experience managing credit, claims, or collections teams.
  • Strong practical experience dealing and negotiating with insurance companies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance claims submission, rejection management, resubmission, settlement, collection, and reconciliation.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy retail, or medical insurance is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of receivables aging, DSO, credit risk, cash conversion, and working capital performance.
  • Experience with ERP systems - preferably SAP and reporting and analytical tools.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, escalation, and decision-making capabilities.
  • A measurable track record of reducing overdue receivables, improving claims acceptance, and accelerating collections.
  • Experience building, consolidating, or restructuring a credit and collections function is strongly preferred.
Key Success Measures
  • Reduction in DSO and overdue receivables.
  • Improvement in on-time claims submission and collection rates.
  • Reduction in rejected, delayed, and disputed claims.
  • Improvement in collection forecast accuracy.
  • Timely reconciliation and closure of customer balances.
  • Clear accountability, effective SLAs, and disciplined escalation.
  • Full operational readiness by January 1, 2027.
