Job summary

Muscat Engineering Consultancy LLC seeks a senior finance leader to oversee full-cycle accounting, project accounting, tax and compliance, budgeting, and treasury. You will manage a finance team, coordinate with senior management, and ensure IFRS 15/IFRS 9 compliance for engineering/construction projects.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years in accounting within engineering/construction, a degree in Finance/Accounting, and a professional CPA/ACCA/CA/CIMA or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in accounting with project and operations focus.
• Strong IFRS/Local GAAP knowledge; IFRS/US GAAP/SOX a plus.
• Familiar with tax, VAT, WHT, TDS, treasury in E&C sector.
• Good commercial acumen; able to work with senior management, projects and sales teams.

Responsibilities

• General Accounting & Reporting – Monthly closing, reconciliations (intercompany, bank, system), FX gain/loss, P&L/Balance Sheet, management & cash flow reports, board presentations.
• Accounting Manual & Standards – Maintain/update accounting manual, ensure IFRS 15 (Revenue) & IFRS 9 (ECL) compliance, set DSO/DPO methodology, manage year-end close calendar.
• Audit & Compliance – Lead statutory & tax audits, manage auditor selection/quotes, ensure IFRS and local regulatory compliance.
• Tax & VAT – Monthly VAT/WHT/TDS filing and reconciliation, ensure PASI/VAT/WHT compliance, timely tax return filing.
• Budgeting & Forecasting – Annual budget/forecast (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) each Sept–Dec cycle; 5-year plan using DCF method.
• Banking & Collections – Manage banking/guarantees, daily cash reporting, support CFO on collections/payments.
• Payroll – Process payroll, bank transfers, and reconciliations monthly.
• Fixed Assets & Investments – Maintain fixed asset registers (statutory & tax), evaluate ROI/payback on investments.

• Rates & Multipliers – Calculate manhour rates, overhead rates, and internal markups; annual review tied to budget cycle
• Internal Controls – Design and monitor effective internal controls and regulatory compliance
• Team & Self-Development – Lead finance team, run internal training/awareness sessions, stay current via CPD
