Job summary

TRACTEBEL Oman is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide technical review, construction supervision and commissioning support for HV/MV electrical systems on a renewable energy project in Oman. The role covers substations, underground cabling, overhead lines and grid interface coordination.

The candidate should have 10+ years in HV/MV substations, 400 kV interconnection experience preferred, and strong knowledge of protection, SCADA, IEC/IEEE standards, and technical reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in HV/MV substations, underground cabling, overhead line works, grid connection or electrical infrastructure projects.
• Experience with design review, construction supervision, testing and commissioning of HV electrical systems.
• Experience with 400 kV or equivalent grid interconnection works is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical protection, SCADA, grid compliance, interface coordination and IEC/IEEE standards.
• Excellent technical reporting, coordination and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical design deliverables, drawings, calculations, specifications, and test procedures.
• Supervise HV/MV substation, underground cable, overhead line, balance of plant and grid interface works.
• Coordinate with grid, transmission, contractor and project interfaces.
• Witness inspections, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, energisation and synchronisation.
• Review technical queries, interface issues, non-conformances and change requests.
• Monitor compliance with grid requirements, electrical standards and project specifications.
• Provide input to progress reports, risk registers, design reviews and project meetings.

About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide technical review, construction supervision, and commissioning support for high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems associated with a renewable energy infrastructure project in Oman. The role will cover substations, underground cabling, overhead line works, grid interface coordination, electrical testing, and technical compliance review.

Key Responsibilities

• Review electrical design deliverables, drawings, calculations, specifications, technical submissions, method statements, and test procedures.
• Supervise and monitor HV/MV substation, underground cable, overhead line, electrical balance of plant, and grid interface works.
• Support coordination with grid, transmission, contractor, and project interface stakeholders.
• Witness inspections, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, energisation, synchronisation, and related electrical activities.
• Review technical queries, interface issues, non-conformances, change requests, and provide discipline recommendations.
• Monitor compliance with applicable grid requirements, electrical standards, project specifications, and good industry practice.
• Provide technical input to progress reports, risk registers, design reviews, and project coordination meetings.
