Job summary

Client of Tawzef is seeking a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead shift maintenance, supervise teams, and troubleshoot failures on a gas-based DRI plant. The role requires strong experience with MIDREX/HYL technology and DRI equipment, plus hands-on preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.

You will coordinate shutdowns, start-ups, and commissioning activities, ensure equipment reliability, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with extensive relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience in Gas-Based DRI Plants is required.
• Experience with MIDREX or HYL/ENERGIRON/HYL ZR technology is highly preferred.
• Strong experience with DRI mechanical equipment such as reactors, compressors, water systems, PGH, and HBI machines.
• Strong preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance experience.
• Experience with plant shutdowns and cold/hot commissioning.
• Knowledge of SAP/CMMS.
• Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical maintenance activities during the assigned shift.
• Supervise maintenance teams and coordinate daily maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Support plant shutdowns, start-ups and commissioning activities.
• Maintain the reliability of critical DRI plant equipment.
• Coordinate spare parts and maintenance activities through SAP CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with safety and maintenance procedures.
