Job summary

Meranti Green Steel in Oman is seeking a Lead Utilities Engineer to own and deliver the utilities package for a 2.5 Mtpa green DRI/HBI project in Duqm. You will oversee air separation, water treatment, wastewater, gas distribution and plant interfaces, driving technical and commercial decisions across FEED, EPC tendering, construction and commissioning.

You will mentor the in-country team, ensure compliance with international codes (ASME, API, ISA, IEC) and regulatory requirements, and

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years' experience in heavy industrial process plant utilities engineering.
• Strong preference for direct experience on integrated steel, ironmaking, petrochemical, fertilizer, refinery, mining or analogous heavy industrial greenfield projects.
• Direct experience interfacing with major utilities OEMs and licensors (Air Liquide, Linde, Air Products) is a strong advantage.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle: FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction supervision, commissioning and ramp-up.
• Demonstrated commercial muscle on utilities package end-to-end from scope definition through OEM selection, contract execution, claims management and closeout.
• Direct experience with ZLD or advanced wastewater systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Own technical and commercial accountability for the Utilities area and its interfaces.
• Lead engineering definition of air separation unit and gas distribution system for the plant.
• Lead the owner's engineering of water systems including raw water, demineralised water, cooling water, and fire water.
• Oversee wastewater management and ZLD strategy for the Duqm site.
• Provide utilities discipline authority across DRI, BoP, Materials Handling and HV areas.
• Contribute to specifications, tender docs, technical evaluations and award recommendations for EPC and equipment packages.
