Job summary

Nabors Industries Ltd is seeking an Electrician in Oman to join their engineering team. The Electrician will perform general maintenance and repairs on various rig equipment including AC motors, electric cranes, and more.

Candidates should have 4 to 7 years of relevant experience, particularly with drive systems and USCG electrical regulations. A license for the STOP Supervisor Program is also necessary.

Qualifications

• 4 to 7 years of experience with equipment similar to that on the rig.
• Minimum of 12 months experience with drive systems preferred.
• Experience with USCG regulations on electrical systems.

Responsibilities

The Electrician works as a member of the engineering team, consisting of the mechanic, electrician, motorman, and welder, under the supervision and direction of the Toolpusher. Each member must be a self‑starter and willing to assist others when requested.

The Electrician is also responsible for simple repair and general maintenance of the following areas of the rig:

• Deck equipment
• Leg depth indicator
• AC motors that drive elevator motor units
• Jacking skidder gear unit
• Longitude and transvers
• Raw water tour gear unit
• Raw water pump
• Electric cranes and controls
• Drilling equipment electrical brake
• Drilling equipment control console
• Mud pump control console
• AC motors that drive draw‑works clutch and brake cooling pump
• Crane draw‑works drive blower
• Rotary table drive blower
• Rig floor hydraulic power unit
• Bulk air compressor
• Mud mixer
• Hopper pump
• Shale shaker
• Degasser pump
• Accumulator unit
• Desander pump
• DC motors that drive draw‑works rotary table
• Top drive engine room
• AC motors that drive saltwater pump system
• Non‑portable water pump system
• Oil pump system
• Air compressor system
• Vent exhaust and supply fans
• Bus control circuits and individual feeders
• Switchboard
• AD generators

Qualifications

4 to 7 years of experience with equipment similar to that used on the rig being assigned to, with a minimum of 12 months experience with drive systems is preferred.

Experience with USCG regulations on electrical systems and wiring requirements for MODU classed units.

Ability to wear respiratory protective devices.

License/Certificate required: STOP for Supervisor Program.
