Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching for undergraduate and graduate Transport / Logistics Management programmes with a focus on sustainability in the shipping industry.
- Construct, plan and assess student assignments.
- Liaise with the Faculty Dean on all student matters, including timetabling, academic and technical support.
- Act as Academic Advisor / Personal Tutor.
- Undertake research and scholarly activity with the aim of publishing in quality international academic journals.
- Engage with external maritime and logistics bodies; arrange industrial placements and industry visits.
- Engage with external community and stakeholders to promote the Sustainable Development Goals agenda.
- Participate in university meetings and events, including the Board of Examiners, Programme Reviews, Planning and Monitoring Committees and Staff‑Student Liaison.
- Maintain flexible working patterns, including mood evening and weekend work as required.
- Actively engage with businesses, professional bodies, port authorities and shipping companies; organise student outreach and invite industry speakers.
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Dean or Line Manager.
Qualifications
- A PhD or equivalent in Sustainable Shipping, Maritime Transport, Environmental Management or a closely related field.
- Minimum two years of teaching experience in Higher Education, preferably in the GCC region.
- Familiarity with the Omani and GCC HE environments.
- Strong links to the maritime and sustainability industry.
- Professional qualifications or memberships in recognised bodies such as the Nautical Institute, CILT UK or an equivalent.
- Experience with academic accreditation or quality assurance processes.
- Experience with sustainability frameworks such as the IMO 2050 strategy or GHG reduction targets.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to audiences with limited knowledge, using a range of media.
- Strong critical thinking, innovation and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the University’s core values and a high‑quality student experience.
Terms and Conditions
A competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. Annual leave entitlement is 30 days plus national holidays applicable in Oman.
