Job summary

Hapůu Ora is seeking calm, dependable Youth Support Workers to provide 24-hour wraparound care for rangatahi in a home-like environment. The role stresses leading by example, clear communication, and staying steady under pressure.

Qualifications

• NZ driver licence required.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand for at least 12 months (where applicable).
• Ability to pass Police Vetting and CYRAS safety checks.
• Physical capacity to perform active duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, mana-enhancing care and supervision.
• Build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Support meals, education, appointments and daily routines.
• Participate in sport, recreation and community activities.
• Support emotional regulation and respond safely to challenging situations.
• Work within tikanga Maori and a kaupapa Maori framework.
• Complete shift notes, incident reports and other documentation.
• Collaborate with whānau, colleagues and external professionals.
• Contribute to cooking, cleaning, laundry and the general running of the whare.
• Follow medication, health and safety, risk-management and emergency procedures.
