Job summary

Kāpiti Youth Support on the Kāpiti Coast is seeking a Youth Coach to deliver support to a caseload of rangatahi aged 15-25. Through intensive coaching, mentoring and case management, you'll help young people build stability, connection and long-term independence.

This role is relationship-driven mahi across sites; you'll coordinate services, complete holistic assessments, and support placement into education or employment while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in youth work, social work, counselling, education, employment support or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Experience working with rangatahi aged 15-24 who face multiple or complex barriers.
• Ability to build trusted relationships, sustain engagement and work inclusively with whānau.
• Commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe practice.

Responsibilities

• Building trust with rangatahi and whānau, supporting eligible participants through referral, enrolment, privacy and consent.
• Completing holistic assessments covering aspirations, education, wellbeing, culture and practical barriers.
• Maintaining regular one-to-one coaching, mentoring, advocacy and practical assistance.
• Facilitating work readiness, communication, literacy, numeracy, digital skills, budgeting and career exploration programmes.
• Coordinating access to services such as transport, identification, banking, driver licensing, health and addiction support, housing, childcare and justice navigation.
• Working with an Employment Broker to identify suitable employment, education or training pathways.
• Providing post-placement support and mitigating risks during transition to work or training.
• Maintaining accurate case notes and records and updating internal systems.
