Job summary

Reliance Recruitment Christchurch is seeking a reliable Yard Person to join our busy distribution centre in Canterbury. This hands‑on role requires operating a forklift, handling large and awkward loads, and maintaining a safe yard.

You will work in a fast‑paced team, loading/unloading trucks and recording data on work phones and tablets. OSH forklift certificate and F endorsement are essential, with strong communication and physical fitness a must.

Job Description

We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking Yard Person to join our busy Christchurch Distribution Centre. This is a hands‑on, physically demanding role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating machinery, and being part of a fast‑paced team.

You’ll be handling large, heavy, awkward loads, so strong forklift skills and experience moving oversized or difficult loads safely are essential.

About the role

Working within a dedicated distribution centre supporting the supply of products across the South Island, your responsibilities will include:

• Safely loading and unloading trucks
• Operating a forklift to move large, heavy and awkward loads
• Completing general yard duties and stock control
• Using handheld radios to communicate with the team
• Entering and updating information using work phones and tablets
• Undertaking physical tasks and maintaining a clean, organised and safe yard

What you’ll bring

• A current OSH forklift certificate
• A current F endorsement
• Proven forklift experience, particularly with large, heavy or awkward loads
• Good communication skills and confidence using handheld radios
• The ability to use work phones and tablets to record information
• The physical fitness required for hands‑on yard work
