PlaceMakers Oamaru is seeking a hands-on Yard/Drive Thru Assistant to deliver excellent customer service in our timber yard. You will load goods, process orders, and help keep the yard tidy while prioritising safety.

Ideal candidates are physically fit, with a positive, team-focused attitude and a willingness to learn about building products and stock control. This is a permanent, full-time role with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service in a retail/building supplies env preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to stay organised.

Job description

Join our vital front-line team at PlaceMakers Oamaru, you’ll be responsible for delivering excellent service to our customers when they come through our yard and drive thru/pick up area. Your energetic, outgoing nature and eye for detail will help you to ensure that our customers are receiving prompt, efficient service and sound advice while keeping safety at the forefront.

Daily you will be responsible for –

• Assisting our customers within our timber yard & Drive Thru department
• Loading of goods on to customer vehicles
• Processing customer orders and transactions
• Monitoring inventory, cycle counts
• Operating a Forklift
• Picking and loading orders accurately and efficiently
• Learning a wide range of building products
• Working as part of a tight knit, supportive team
• Keeping the yard safe, tidy, and running smoothly

This is a permanent full-time role, offering 40 hours a week. Working Monday -Friday 8am -5pm.

About you:

You will play a lead role in ensuring our loyal customers are giving the upmost care and service. You will need to be a people person and someone who thrives in building rapport customers.

• Full clean class 1 driver licence and Forklift licence/Experience is preferred, however not essential
• Physically fit and a solid health and safety values
• Great attention to detail and be organised
• Computer and numeracy knowledge
• Someone who enjoys dealing with people and working as part of a team
• Ability to have a laugh and enjoy the day while still getting the job done
