Job summary

DIALOG Fitzroy is seeking a highly organized Workshop Scheduler to join our New Plymouth team. You will plan and coordinate fabrication workshop and paint shop activities to maximise productivity, ensure safety, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Reporting to the Taranaki Facilities & Mechanical Location Manager, this hands-on role requires excellent planning, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge of fabrication processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in production scheduling within workshop/manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and industrial painting processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using scheduling systems/software.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workshop and paint shop schedules, optimise resources, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders updated on project delivery.
• Collaborate with Procurement and Stores to ensure material availability, proactively manage supply risks, and support resource planning for upcoming projects.
• Coordinate with project teams to manage schedules, provide progress updates, maintain accurate scheduling records, and support planning and production meetings.
• Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, support process improvement initiatives, and contribute to Lean Manufacturing implementations.
• Promote a strong safety culture by supporting HSE initiatives, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and assisting with incident reporting and investigations.

We are looking for a highly organised Workshop Scheduler to join our team based in New Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in coordinating workshop and paint shop activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

About the Role

Reporting to the Taranaki Facilities & Mechanical Location Manager, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating fabrication workshop and paint shop activities to maximise productivity and resource utilisation.

This is a hands-on scheduling role that requires excellent planning skills, strong stakeholder engagement, and a good understanding of fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Workshop Scheduler, you will be responsible for:

• Production Scheduling - Coordinate workshop and paint shop schedules, optimise resources, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders updated on project delivery.
• Materials & Resource Coordination - Collaborate with Procurement and Stores teams to ensure material availability, proactively manage supply risks, and support resource planning for upcoming projects.
• Project & Stakeholder Communication - Coordinate with project teams to manage schedules, provide progress updates, maintain accurate scheduling records, and support planning and production meetings.
• Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, support process improvement initiatives, and contribute to the implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Health, Safety & Environment - Promote a strong safety culture by supporting HSE initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and assisting with incident reporting and investigations.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven experience in production scheduling within workshop or manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and industrial painting processes
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using scheduling systems/software
• Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and coordinate across multiple teams
• Ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining delivery commitments
• Trade qualification in Engineering, Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
• Experience working within heavy industrial, engineering, mechanical, or fabrication environments
