We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the overall leadership, performance, and operational management of our workshop team in Christchurch,Canterbury. In this role, you will lead the assembly, maintenance, and repair of pump systems and associated rotating equipment, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Leading, coaching, and developing workshop engineers, technicians, and apprentices
Managing daily workshop operations, including job scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation
Providing technical guidance on pump systems, mechanical repairs, and complex troubleshooting
Ensuring jobs are completed safely, on time, and strictly inline with quality standards
Overseeing job quoting, technical scoping, and direct customer engagement regarding job progress
Monitoring workshop budgets, operational costs, productivity KPIs, and turnaround times
Championing a zero-harm H&S culture by leading safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks
Maintaining workshop tools, equipment, and facilities to ensure optimal performance
Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Extensive practical experience working with pumps, rotating equipment, or mechanical systems
Proven leadership and people-management experience in a workshop or industrial environment
Strong technical capability and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
Sound financial and operational acumen with a focus on workshop efficiency and continuous improvement
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards
