Job summary

Trade Assist is seeking Welders for a variety of projects around Otago. The role offers competitive hourly rates and requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience or NZQF level 5+. A full drivers licence, ability to work nights/weekends, and strong English communication are essential.

Join a dedicated team, enjoy PPE provided and opportunities for ongoing training on large-scale pipework projects. The position may involve regional travel and non-workshop tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years relevant experience or NZQF level 5 or above.
• Full drivers licence.
• Available for night shifts and early starts (from 6am).
• Able to work weekends when required.
• Excellent communication skills including English.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to establish job requirements.
• Prepare metal stock and readies for fabrication.
• Cut and shape metal with tools and flame-cutting torches.
• Form/bend metal sections and pipes using hand/machine tools.
• Position and align parts for joining with measuring instruments.
• Weld or bolt/rivet components as required.
• Inspect welds for width, penetration and accuracy.
• Finish products by cleaning, polishing and grinding.
• Order materials from suppliers as needed.
• Carry out tasks outside the workshop when required.
