Job summary

Canstaff is seeking an experienced Welder Fabricator to join a busy heavy vehicle workshop in Christchurch. You will weld and fabricate for repairs, maintenance and modifications on trucks, agitators, and other large equipment, ensuring quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has strong MIG/TIG welding skills, can read blueprints, and works well in a team with good communication. The role offers ongoing training and a long-term career path within a well-equipped workshop.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Welder Fabricator, ideally within a heavy vehicle workshop.
• Proficient in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/blueprints.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication work on heavy vehicles, agitators, and other machinery, ensuring compliance with standards and safety regulations.
• Repair vehicle frames, chassis, suspension, exhaust systems, and other structural components.
• Fabricate custom parts for repair and maintenance tasks as required.
• Interpret drawings/blueprints to accurately complete welding tasks.
• Use MIG, TIG welding methods for complex projects.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to health & safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with workshop team to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

They are seeking an experienced and skilled Welder Fabricator to join our busy heavy vehicle workshop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding, fabrication, and working with heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient repair, maintenance, and modification of a wide range of heavy vehicles, including trucks, agitators, and other large equipment.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Perform welding and fabrication work on heavy vehicles, agitators, and other machinery, ensuring all work meets industry standards and safety regulations.

• Conduct repairs to vehicle frames, chassis, suspension, exhaust systems, and other structural components.
• Fabricate custom parts and components as required for various repair and maintenance tasks.
• Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to accurately complete welding and fabrication tasks.
• Use a variety of welding techniques MIG, TIG and welding to complete complex projects.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring adherence to all health and safety guidelines.
• Work closely with the workshop team to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator, ideally within a heavy vehicle workshop.
• Proficient in MIG, TIG and welding techniques.
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
