Job summary

Green by Nature AU is seeking an energetic Edger/Weed Eater Operator for a short-term role in Nelson. You will help keep parks and reserves in top condition during the busy growing season, focusing on weed-eating and edging while supporting the mowing team.

Ideal candidates have a full driver’s licence (manual), good physical fitness, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Pre-employment drug testing may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires a full driver’s licence with manual experience.
• Physically demanding role; good fitness is essential.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and operate small plant equipment.
• Experience with edging and weed-eating is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Perform weed-eating and edging to keep parks and reserves well presented.
• Assist mowing team and contribute to other plant maintenance tasks as needed.

Spring / Summer position starting the beginning mid-September 2026 working through to 18 th December 2026!

Do you have a great work ethic, enjoy getting stuck in, and hold a full driver’s licence? If so this is the perfect short-term position for you! We're looking for an energetic individual to help keep Nelson’s parks and reserves in top condition by taking on important vegetation control tasks.

What's does an Edger / Weed Eater Operator do you ask?

As an Edger/Weed Eater Operator, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the Mowing team by helping to keep vegetation under control during the busy growing season. You’ll focus on weed-eating and edging, ensuring our parks look their best, and occasionally join the wider crew to assist with other tasks across our green spaces.

Who we are looking for

We’re on the lookout for people with a strong desire to do a job well. Experience using small plant equipment is a bonus, but if you’re eager to learn, that’s good enough for us! You’ll also need:

• A full driver’s licence (manual driving experience required)
• Energy, self-motivation, and a can-do attitude
• Good physical fitness – this is a hands-on, physically demanding role
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
