Job summary

Veolia is hiring a Water Treatment Operator in Central Hawke's Bay to operate and maintain water treatment assets. The role offers thorough training for those new to the water industry and requires a current NZ driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• NZQA or equivalent professional or trade qualification in Water and/or Wastewater network construction or operations and maintenance.
• Experience in a similar role with knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, systems, processes and standards.
• Understanding of wastewater treatment operations and maintenance requirements.
• Understanding of resource consents and their criticality.
• Understanding of SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the water treatment assets and plant.
• Troubleshoot and problem solve faults and defects that affect continued operation.
• Installation and repair of water treatment assets, such as valves, pumps, analysers etc.
• Undertake quality sampling of water samples in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Act as a point of contact for customer requests for service.
• Accurately log all reports and jobs, completing the necessary paperwork and filing where required.
• Be present onsite to oversee contractor activities, with overtime as needed in various weather conditions at multiple locations.
• Contribute to district operations by collaborating with field, engineering, management, clients, and suppliers.
• Assist and support other departments in executing duties.
• Undertake general duties to provide effective service to clients and customers.
