Job summary

Tiaki Wai in Wellington is seeking a field water technician to maintain and service water networks across the region. You will install and repair connections, flush mains and work with diverse teams to ensure reliable water supply.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with tools, a safety-first mindset, and a full clean Class 1 licence (Class 2 endorsement beneficial). Expect overtime, on-call rosters, and opportunities to upskill in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in the water industry with ability to use hand tools, small plant and machinery.
• Ability to use technology (iPad or tablet) to record information.
• Commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
• Full, clean Class 1 driving licence (Class 2 endorsement would be advantageous).
• First Aid, Confined Spaces, working at height certificates would be beneficial.
• Reliable and hard-working attitude.
• Willingness to work overtime and on-call rosters.
• Willingness to complete further studies and the Connexis Infrastructure works qualification.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair water connections on mains of various sizes.
• Ensure work complies with trade practice.
• Flush and charge water mains.
• Collaborate with other teams and contractors to achieve results.
