Job summary

Northpower is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Operations Leader to own day-to-day warehouse activities in New Plymouth — receiving, storing and issuing goods while maintaining accurate inventory and ensuring stock is available for the Operations teams.

You will monitor stock levels, lead annual stocktakes and cycle counts, coordinate logistics and drive improvements in safety, efficiency and cost. Strong communication with field staff and senior stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in warehouse, inventory or logistics management within an operational environment.
• Experience in the electrical industry would be an advantage.
• Experience leading people, managing performance and coaching others.
• A good understanding of continuous improvement practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively with field staff, managers, senior leaders and suppliers.
• Strong decision-making and problem‑solving skills.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience using JDE and Coupa would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day warehouse operation, including receiving, storing and issuing goods, while maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Monitor stock accuracy, obsolete and slow-moving inventory, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Coordinate annual stocktakes and monthly cycle counts; plan and manage warehouse logistics, deliveries and order fulfilment.
• Proactively manage inventory levels to minimise the risk of stockouts.
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient warehouse environment; oversee depot requirements such as waste management, recycling and security.
• Build strong relationships with Operations, suppliers and other key stakeholders; provide proactive communication and responsive customer service.
• Identify and contribute to improvements in processes, safety, efficiency and ways of working.
• Look after company equipment, PPE and other Northpower property to keep them in good working order.
