Job summary

Fullers Group on Waiheke Island seeks fixed-term Bus Drivers for 30+ hours per week, from September through to about the end of April 2027. You will drive urban or tour coaches, share the island's views, and deliver exceptional service to both commuters and visitors.

Rostered across 5 days of 7, including weekends and public holidays, with pre-employment checks and relocation/commuting to Ostend. Induction rate $27.85, then $32.89 hourly; weekly pay and free ferry/bus travel are included.

Qualifications

• YOU MUST hold a class 2 or 4 licence and your P endorsement to be eligible for this position.
• You must have the right to work in NZ to be considered for the role.
• You will be rostered 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and public holidays.
• You must live on Waiheke Island OR be willing to commute to and from our depot in Ostend, Waiheke Island.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service to commuters and tourists on Waiheke Island.
• Drive urban or tour coaches and share the island's stunning views as your office.
• Maintain safety and clear communication with passengers, including non-English speakers.

We're gearing up for our busiest period with summer around the corner and will be employing Bus Drivers on a fixed term, full-time basis. Ideally you'll be able to start September and work through till approximately the end of April 2027.

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional service and exploring beautiful destinations? Waiheke Bus Company needs you! We’re seeking fixed-term Bus Drivers that can work 30+ hours a week to join our team and create memorable experiences for our visitors.

Every day will be an opportunity to deliver fantastic customer service and share a unique and safe experience for our passengers, driving urban or tour coaches and experience the stunning views from your ‘office’ that is Waiheke Island.

Our bus drivers are everyday people. They enjoy working with customers (commuters and tourists visitors), love driving through Waiheke's challenging and spectacular roads and take pride in their job. Dealing with so many different people every day requires you to communicate clearly (written and oral), but also be flexible and patient enough to understand those who are not English speakers. Caring about their safety is a must.

Skills and Experience:

• YOU MUST hold a class 2 or 4 licence and your P endorsement to be eligible for this position
• You must have the right to work in NZ to be considered for the role
• Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor
• Excellent driving record and adherence to safety regulations
• Previous tour driving experience
• WBC is a 7-day operation – you will be rostered 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and public holidays
• You will need to pass our pre-employment screening and background checks
• You must live on Waiheke Island OR be willing to commute to and from our depot in Ostend, Waiheke Island

Summer crew overview

• Starting early October
• Fixed term contract at 40+ hours per week until April 2027
• Starting and ending your shifts at the Waiheke Bus Company located on Ostend Road
• Need to be able and willing to work over the Christmas and New Year’s period
• Need to be available to work 40+ hours a week

Hours of work:

• Average of 9-hour days starting as rostered

Salary and perks:

• Training / Induction rate $27.85 per hour, once signed off hourly rate of $32.89 per hour, paid weekly
• Free ferry travel for our employees for work and leisure
• Free bus travel on island (for the employee)
