Job summary

Summerset Holdings in Whanganui seeks a Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations, helping chefs deliver nutritious meals to residents and visitors. You will assist with food prep, plating, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean, compliant kitchen environment.

The role features 4 days on, 2 days off (2xAM shifts/2xPM shifts) with opportunities to contribute to resident wellbeing and family experiences within our Whanganui village.

Qualifications

• Previous hospitality experience preferred.
• Friendly, can-do attitude and good communication.
• Good physical stamina.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation such as peeling, chopping and portioning.
• Help with plating and presentation of meals.
• Operate dishwashers and ensure all kitchenware is properly sanitised.
• Keep kitchen areas clean, organised, and compliant.
• Receive, unpack and store deliveries, including stock rotation.
