Job summary

Eastern Institute of Technology in Hawke's Bay seeks two Learning Facilitators, Veterinary Nursing, to support teaching across our veterinary nursing programmes. Roles commence January 2027 and are based in our School of Education, Social Sciences and Veterinary Nursing.

The appointing salary is NZD 59,458–64,388 depending on skills and experience. You will foster student learning, coordinate workplace learning hours, and build partnerships with clinics and industry.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Veterinary Nursing, Animal Care, Education, or a related field.
• Practical experience within a veterinary, animal care, educational, or training environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and other digital systems confidently.
• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to supporting learner success and creating positive learning experiences.
• An understanding of animal welfare requirements and health and safety responsibilities.
• An awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and a commitment to culturally responsive practice.

Responsibilities

• Support student learning and achievement by providing guidance, coaching, and pastoral support throughout their learning journey.
• Facilitate practical learning activities and assist academic staff with the delivery of teaching sessions and assessments.
• Coordinate and monitor student workplace learning, including recording and tracking practical and clinical hours.
• Maintain effective relationships with veterinary clinics, industry partners, and external stakeholders to support student placements and programme outcomes.
• Ensure teaching resources, equipment, and learning environments are maintained and fit for purpose.
• Promote and uphold high standards of animal welfare, health and safety, and professional conduct.
• Assist with programme administration, student records, and reporting requirements.
• Support tauira recruitment, orientation, and learner engagement activities.
• Contribute to programme reviews, quality assurance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively across the Centre for Veterinary Nursing and wider EIT teams to achieve organisational goals.
