Job summary

Nelson City Council is seeking a senior digital professional to lead the ongoing evolution of its websites, online services and digital channels. You’ll use a user-centred approach, turning insights into accessible online experiences for the community.

You’ll work with advisors, developers and designers to deliver customer-focused improvements, ensuring accessibility, branding and performance across platforms. This hybrid role supports flexible work while shaping Whakatū Nelson’s digital future.

Qualifications

• Experience applying user-centred design to websites and digital services.
• Ability to use analytics and insights to prioritise improvements.
• Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles and accessibility best practices.
• Experience working with developers, designers and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead ongoing evolution of Council websites, online services and digital channels.
• Publish and coordinate content across digital channels.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to identify barriers.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes and design recommendations.
• Advocate for customer-centred digital outcomes.
• Collaborate with advisors, developers, designers and subject matter experts.
• Ensure accessibility and consistent branding across digital assets.
