Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is seeking a Principal Experience Designer to provide strategic design leadership across a large digital transformation programme. The role covers research to detailed product design, and involves influencing leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver accessible customer experiences.

• Extensive experience leading human-centred design for products/services.
• Ability to shape roadmaps and deliver meaningful customer experiences.
• Strong communication to influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring design teams and elevating capability.
• Proven track record in agile product development environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead human-centred design across a range of connected initiatives from research to detailed product design.
• Influence at a high level; partner with leaders, stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Coach and mentor the Design Chapter; contribute to the Design System and Design Community of Practice.
• Ensure accessible, evidence-based design decisions across end-to-end customer experiences.
