Job summary

Red Stag TimberLab Limited in Rotorua invites applications for a Utility Operator to support the Cross Laminated Timber plant. The role covers Remanufacturing, Pressing, and forklift tasks, with on-the-job training to maintain safe, efficient production.

You will assist with running equipment, moving materials, and completing checks while following site procedures and health and safety guidelines. A hands-on role offering development within a respected NZ timber business.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or timber processing.
• Willingness to cross-train across Remanufacturing, Pressing, and forklift operations.
• Current driver licence; OSH Forklift licence would be an advantage.
• Ability to follow procedures and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate across Remanufacturing, Pressing, and forklift duties as required.
• Run and monitor production equipment to support efficient timber processing.
• Safely move, load, unload, and organise timber products and materials using a forklift once trained and authorised.
• Carry out inspections, pre-start checks, cleaning, and routine operational tasks.
• Support production flow by working flexibly across different areas of the site.
• Identify faults, report issues, and assist with basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate logs, check sheets, and operational records.
• Follow health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures at all times.
• Work with Managers, Team Leaders, maintenance teams, and production staff to support smooth daily operations.

Join Red Stag TimberLab in Rotorua and help support the reliable operation of our Cross Laminated Timber plant.

Red Stag TimberLab is looking for a practical, reliable, and safety-focused Utility Operator to join our Rotorua team in the Cross Laminated Timber plant. This cross-functional role will support operations across Remanufacturing, Pressing, and forklift duties, helping keep our CLT manufacturing processes running safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

About the role

As a Utility Operator in the Cross Laminated Timber plant, you will be trained to work across multiple areas of the operation, including Remanufacturing, Pressing, and forklift operation. You will assist with running production equipment, moving materials safely, completing routine checks, supporting production flow, and ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with site procedures.

What we are looking for

• A reliable, positive attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety.
• Experience in manufacturing, timber processing, production, forklift operation, or a similar hands-on environment.
• Willingness and ability to be cross trained across Remanufacturing, Pressing, and forklift operations.
• Good mechanical aptitude and confidence working around plant, equipment, and machinery.
• Ability to follow procedures, communicate clearly, and work well as part of a team.
• Current driver licence; OSH Forklift licence would be an advantage.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support continuous improvement across the site.
