Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician for our Macraes underground mining department in Otago, New Zealand. The role involves servicing, diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on a range of underground earthmoving equipment, both underground and in the surface workshop.

The position operates on a 7 days on/off roster with 6:30am/6:30pm shifts. Applicants should hold a relevant trade qualification, 3-5 years in mining/heavy machinery, a full manual licence and NZ working

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Auto Electrician; 5 years practical experience preferred.
• 3-5 years’ experience in heavy machinery/mining environment preferred.
• Full, manual driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain underground equipment mechanically and electronically per guidelines.
• Maintain and service vehicles both on surface and underground.
• Maintain automation gear and perform electrical repairs as required; complete mechanical tasks.

Job Description

Our Macraes underground mining department on the hunt for an experienced Auto Electrician. Whether you’re new to the mining sector, or keen to further your experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with New Zealand’s largest gold mine. This role will involve servicing, diagnosing and undertaking electrical repairs to a wide variety of underground earthmoving equipment, both underground and in our above-surface workshop.

7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off, 6:30am/pm to 6:30pm/am roster.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensurethat all underground equipment is mechanically and electronically maintained in accordance with company and manufacturer guidelines
• Workat both surface-level and underground to maintain and servicevehicles
• As directed by the Auto Electrical specialist, you will maintain automation gear (e.g. remote services), complete general electrical repairs, and electrical services as required
• Complete mechanical requirements as required
• Ensure that the necessary lock out procedures is in place before commencing work on a piece of equipment
• Ensure all the necessary pre-start service and repair documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner

Qualifications

• Appropriate trade qualification with ideally 5 years practical experience in your field
• 3-5 years’ experience in a heavy machinery ormining environment is preferred
• Full, Manual Drivers Licence required
• Current NZ workingrights / NZ Visa is required for this role
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining quality is essential
