Job summary

OceanaGold's Macraes underground mining department is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician. You will service, diagnose and repair electrical systems on a wide range of underground earthmoving equipment, both underground and in the above-ground workshop.

The role operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster with 12-hour shifts. Residential in Otago, NZ, with a generous salary plus bonus, onsite healthcare, transport, and study support.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification with 5 years' practical experience.
• 3–5 years’ experience in heavy machinery or mining.
• Full, Manual Drivers Licence.
• NZ working rights / NZ Visa.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain underground equipment mechanically and electronically.
• Service and maintain vehicles at surface and underground.
• Maintain automation gear and perform electrical repairs as required.
• Complete mechanical requirements as directed.
• Ensure lock out procedures are in place before work on equipment.
• Complete pre-start service and repair documentation.

Job Description

Our Macraes underground mining department on the hunt for an experienced Auto Electrician. Whether you’re new to the mining sector, or keen to further your experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with New Zealand’s largest gold mine. This role will involve servicing, diagnosing and undertaking electrical repairs to a wide variety of underground earthmoving equipment, both underground and in our above-surface workshop. 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off, 6:30am/pm to 6:30pm/am roster.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensure that all underground equipment is mechanically and electronically maintained in accordance with company and manufacturer guidelines
• Work at both surface-level and underground to maintain and service vehicles
• As directed by the Auto Electrical specialist, you will maintain automation gear (e.g. remote services), complete general electrical repairs, and electrical services as required
• Complete mechanical requirements as required
• Ensure that the necessary lock out procedures is in place before commencing work on a piece of equipment
• Ensure all the necessary pre-start service and repair documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner

Qualifications

• Appropriate trade qualification with ideally 5 years practical experience in your field
• 3-5 years’ experience in a heavy machinery or mining environment is preferred
• Full, Manual Drivers Licence required
• Current NZ working rights / NZ Visa is required for this role
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining quality is essential
