OceanaGold is seeking a trade-qualified electrician to maintain electrical systems for the Macraes open pit, on a 7 on/7 off dayshift roster. You will work under the Open Pit Electrical Supervisor to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards in New Zealand’s largest gold mine.

Key tasks include preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, HV infrastructure upkeep, and contributing to site safety programs.

Qualifications

• Formal electrical trade qualification is required.
• Current registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board.
• Current First Aid Certificate is required.
• Full and current driver's license; manual preferred.
• NZ work rights/visa required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repairs and improvements to electrical equipment in open pit and minesite.
• Diagnose faults to maximise plant availability during downtime.
• Maintain HV infrastructure including substations and switchgear.
• Repair and maintain lighting plants, generators and dewatering equipment.
• Record all work and modifications for history.
• Attend safety meetings and complete JSA before tasks.
• Follow SOPs and assist in developing procedures as required.

Job Description

Are you a trade-qualified electrician looking to start or build-upon your experience across the mining sector? If so, read on! Working under the supervision of the Open Pit Electrical Supervisor, this role will be responsible for maintaining all open pit mining electrical systems, and HV Mobile mining equipment to the appropriate regulations and standards. Working a7 on / 7off dayshift only roster, this is an exciting opportunity to work for New Zealand’s largest goldmine!

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Carry out maintenance, repairs, and improvements to electrical equipment in the open pit and general minesite
• Diagnose and rectify faults under the pressure of unscheduled downtime or power outage to maximise plant availability
• Maintain and fault-find HV infrastructure including substations, switchgear, power reticulation, trailing cables and HV mobileplant
• Carry out repair and maintenance on lighting plants, generators and dewateringequipment
• Record all work done and modifications for historicalrecords
• Attend pre-shift safety and tool box safetymeetings
• Complete Stop and Think and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to undertaking tasks
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) specified for particular equipment or tasks and be involved in the development and review/revision of procedures whenrequired

Qualifications

• Formal Electrical trade qualification required
• Current registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles ispreferred
• Current NZ work rights / Visa is required for thisrole
