Job summary

Omexom New Zealand is seeking an experienced Cable Jointer to install, test, repair and maintain underground LV, HV and EHV cable networks. The role covers construction, maintenance and fault response, with a focus on safety, quality and timely delivery.

You will work across regional locations, coordinating with field teams, clients and network owners to ensure reliable electricity distribution and compliant operations. A strong safety mindset and current driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised cable jointing qualification or equivalent electrical industry certification.
• Authorisations and certifications for cable jointing and underground networks.
• Experience installing, testing, maintaining and repairing underground distribution cables.
• Strong knowledge of LV, HV and EHV systems and jointing techniques.
• Understanding of electricity industry regulations, standards and safe work procedures.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel across regions for projects and fault response.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, join, repair and maintain LV, HV and EHV underground cables per standards and authorisations.
• Identify electrical systems and assets prior to work to ensure safe, accurate completion.
• Complete allocated construction, maintenance and repair tasks on underground networks to meet quality and client needs.
• Respond to network faults and outages; assist in fault restoration and standby rosters as required.
• Operate ground-mounted and structure-mounted equipment up to 33kV on electrical networks.
• Maintain high safety standards via PPE, safety devices and safe work practices.
