Job summary

Ventia is seeking an experienced Distribution Cable Jointer to support Canterbury region projects and maintenance, installing and testing underground cables, joining HV/LV systems, and ensuring high safety standards.

You will operate across Canterbury sites, read technical docs, maintain records, and participate in after-hours work as needed. Strong EWRB registration and 2+ years LV/11kV jointing are essential.

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold registration from the Electrical Workers Registration Board as a Cable Jointer.
• At least 2 years of LV and 11kV cable jointing experience.
• Hands-on cable jointing experience to industry standards.
• Class 1 driver's licence or overseas equivalent.
• Physically resilient and able to work under pressure.
• Commitment to zero harm and safety.
• Sound technical knowledge of cables and local networks.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Carry out HV and LV cable jointing and terminations.
• Install, test, and commission underground distribution network assets.
• Locate and repair cable faults.
• Read and interpret network drawings and technical documentation.
• Complete work in accordance with industry standards and owner requirements.
• Maintain accurate job records and reporting.
• Participate in emergency response and after-hours callouts.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
