Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Tunnel Manager in New Zealand to lead tunnel safety, maintenance, readiness and incident response on a major corridor project. You will report to the Maintenance and Operations Manager and coordinate with design, construction, and operations teams to ensure long-term asset performance.

You will drive lifecycle planning, risk management and safety governance, building a high-performing, safety-first team culture for sustained project success on the Northland corridor project.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering with proven leadership of tunnel or complex M&E/ITS operations.
• Strong knowledge of NZTA requirements and RAMS, TAMP/lifecycle planning, Safety File governance and BWoF/IQP coordination.
• Demonstrated safety leadership, including incident response (CIMS) and investigations (ICAM).
• Commercial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, contract governance and claims management.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor high-performing teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, experience with ATOC and emergency services; proficient with GIS and digital decision tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe, compliant operation and maintenance of the tunnels.
• Lead emergency preparedness and incident response with emergency services and NZTA.
• Plan lifecycle, inspection and testing programs for tunnel assets; connect design, construction, maintenance and operations teams.
• Review designs and construction for budget, risk and constructability.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, contract obligations, extensions of time and claims.
• Develop the M&E/ITS Tunnel Engineer and build a safety-first team culture.
