Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Wellington is seeking a Traffic Controller to join the Wellington Transport Alliance team. You will assist with traffic management on site, set up safe work zones, and direct traffic around the state highway network, with a strong safety focus.

The role is Night Shift, usually 7pm–7am, Sunday to Thursday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, and requires a current Class 1 licence and TM/TO qualifications or commitment to achieving them. A career in Traffic Management is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup and pack-down of traffic management sites
• Direct and manage the safe flow of vehicles and pedestrians
• Support temporary traffic management across a range of projects, following current codes of practice
• Communicate clearly with STMS and site crews to keep operations running smoothly
• Proactively identify hazards and take action to eliminate risks
• Maintain a strong focus on safety for yourself, your team, and the public

Job description

We’re looking for a Traffic Controller to join our Wellington Transport Alliance (WTA) Team in the Wellington Region. You’ll assist with the traffic management on site, ensuring a strong commitment to safety, by helping us set up and manage the safe flow of traffic around the state highway network.

When you join our team, you will play a key role in keeping both our crews and the public safe on the road! As a Traffic Controller, you'll be right at the heart of our operations, setting up safe work zones, directing traffic with confidence, and ensuring everything runs smoothly on site.

You’ll help create a safe and efficient environment by managing traffic flow, supporting site setup, and working closely with the team to maintain top safety standards.
