Job summary

Central TTM is seeking a on-site Traffic Controller to manage vehicle and pedestrian flow across multiple locations in the Wellington region. You will operate stop/slow paddles, manage TMPs, and maintain clear radio communications with supervisors to ensure safety and efficiency at each site.

The ideal candidate will have a Class 1 driver’s license (Class 2 advantageous), reliable work ethic, and proven experience in traffic control, contributing to a safe, compliant work environment with

  • Current Class 1 driver's license (Class 2 advantageous).
  • Experience in a similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct traffic at worksites using stop/slow paddles and radio communication.
  • Set up and pack down traffic management equipment per TMP.
  • Maintain clear radio communication with controllers and site supervisors.
  • Monitor conditions and notify supervisor of hazards or changes in flow.
  • Ensure safety of workers, pedestrians, and motorists at all times.
  • Follow site-specific TMPs and enforce them on site.
  • Stay alert during long shifts in varying weather.
  • Complete required paperwork and incident reports.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation, policies and site rules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control and direct the flow of traffic through worksites using stop/slow paddles, and communication devices
  • Set up and pack down traffic management equipment, including cones, signs, and barriers in accordance with the traffic management plan
  • Maintain clear communication with other traffic controllers and site supervisors via two-way radio
  • Monitor site conditions and alert the supervisor to any hazards, incidents, or changes in traffic flow
  • Ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians, and motorists at all times
  • Follow and enforce site-specific traffic management plans (TMPs)
  • Remain alert and responsive during extended periods of standing in varying weather conditions
  • Complete relevant paperwork and incident reports as required
  • Comply with all health and safety legislation, company policies, and site rules
