Job summary

Johns Lyngs Group in Auckland seeks a practical Makesafe Technician to attend makesafe sites across the Auckland region, performing temporary repairs to secure homes and businesses after damage. You’ll work hands-on in a supportive team and be the reassuring face clients meet during stressful times.

The role is Monday–Friday with opportunities for paid overtime after hours and on weekends. You’ll have clear pathways into supervision and project management as you grow with the business.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification is essential.
• LBP/licensed builder is ideal but not essential.
• Current and valid motor vehicle licence required.
• Supply own basic hand tools, power tools & battery.

Responsibilities

• Attend service calls with short notice.
• Provide peace of mind to clients in stressful situations.
• Conduct permanent and temporary repairs to homes and businesses.
• Ensure workmanship meets high industry standards.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and clients.
• Liaise with staff, insurance companies & councils.
• Communicate repair details and issues to head office.
• Ensure all work complies with OHS requirements and legislation.
• Travel across the Auckland region.

The Role:

We’re looking for a practical, reliable builder to join our team as a Makesafe Technician. In this role, you’ll attend makesafe sites across Auckland region , carrying out temporary building repairs to secure homes and businesses after damage. It’s a hands‑on, problem‑solving position where no two days look the same, and you’ll be the reassuring face clients meet during stressful situations.

This is a standard Monday–Friday role, but you’ll also have the opportunity to earn significant paid overtime for after‑hours and weekend callouts—perfect for someone who wants stable hours with the option to boost their income. Key Selection Criteria

Working towards a Trade qualification is essential, LBP, licensed, qualified builder is ideal but not essential.

Experience on Insurance construction projects ideal, however not essential

Positive, honest & pro-active attitude

Current & valid motor vehicle licence

Requirement to supply own basic hand tools, power tools & battery
