Job summary

Marten Bakker Timbers Limited in Auckland seeks a Timber Yard Manager to lead storage, stock control, and distribution operations for our timber yard. This full-time role requires coordinating receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch to meet customer needs.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Management/Supply Chain/Logistics or at least 2 years’ timber yard management experience, with strong leadership and planning skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree or higher in Business, Management, Supply Chain and Logistics or equivalent; or minimum 2 years’ timber yard management/ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily timber yard operations and ensure smooth stock control.
• Plan receiving, storage, picking and dispatch of timber.
• Supervise yard staff and assign rosters and workloads.
• Coordinate deliveries, transport and customer collections.
• Monitor timber quality, quantity and inventories; manage supplier relations.
• Implement yard procedures and maintain health and safety compliance.

We are looking for a Timber Yard Manager to manage overall storage, stock control, supply and distribution operations of our timber yard based in Auckland. This is a full-time permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours per week and the pay rate for this position will be 35.50 NZD per hour.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Managing the overall daily operations of the timber yard.
• Planning and coordinating receiving, storage, picking and dispatch of timber.
• Managing inventory levels and stock control systems.
• Supervising and managing yard employees and team leaders.
• Planning staff rosters, workloads and daily operational priorities.
• Coordinating timber deliveries, transport and customer collections.
• Monitoring incoming timber for quantity, quality and damage.
• Managing supplier and logistics relationships.
• Controlling stock losses, damage, wastage and operational costs.
• Developing and implementing yard operating procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
• Monitoring equipment and arranging maintenance or repairs.
• Reviewing operational performance and implementing improvements.
• Coordinating with sales, purchasing, accounts and senior management.
• Preparing operational reports and providing recommendations to company management.
