Job summary

Placemakers is seeking a strategic Category Manager to lead our Timber category, with oversight across landscaping and rural. You’ll drive category performance through supplier partnerships, pricing, and range management, underpinned by market trends and customer needs.

Based in our Penrose office, this full-time role requires 40 hours per week and collaboration with branches, sales and marketing to deliver excellent customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Category Management or similar commercial role with timber exposure.
• Experience developing customer-focused category strategies that drive performance.
• Strong supplier management, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Analytical, organized and decisive with sound decision-making.
• Commercially astute with ability to translate insights into results.
• Team player who thrives on developing and working with others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies to drive sales growth and profitability.
• Manage pricing and COGS to stay competitive and protect margins.
• Curate high-performing product ranges across channels.
• Build and manage supplier relationships with regular reviews.
• Monitor market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities.
• Conduct category reviews for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with branches, sales, marketing and suppliers to deliver great outcomes.
• Support showroom presentation and overall customer experience.
