Job summary

The Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking a Test Lead in Wellington CBD to drive the ongoing implementation of the Te Au Reka testing strategy. You will define and lead the overall testing approach, guiding a team of Test Analysts and Test Engineers to deliver high-quality digital products and services.

In this fixed-term role (to Mar 2029), you will align testing activities with programme objectives, manage risks, and collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams to promote

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading testing functions within large and complex organisations, with responsibility for testing strategy, planning, and delivery across multiple workstreams.
• Strong experience working with stakeholders to develop and deliver acceptance testing, particularly within Agile delivery environments
• Experience leading testing for interoperability initiatives and complex API integrations
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing testing teams while fostering a collaborative and positive team culture
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a wide range of business and technical groups
• Experience using testing and delivery tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO)
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or equivalent experience, supported by a commitment to ongoing professional development
• Relevant industry, technical, and/or professional certifications

Responsibilities

• Define and implement testing strategies, plans, and approaches that support successful programme delivery
• Lead and develop a team of Test Analysts and Test Engineers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative testing culture
• Establish testing governance, manage risks and issues, and ensure testing activities align with best practices and quality standards
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams, providing clear communication on testing progress, outcomes, and risks
