Job summary

Wakatipu High School in Queenstown is seeking a specialist teacher aide for a permanent term-time position starting in Term 4, 2026. The role is 31 hours 15 minutes per week, 08:45 to 15:30 with a 30-minute unpaid break, Monday to Friday.

You will work with students in one-to-one or small group settings, especially those funded by the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS), assisting with learning, behaviour strategies and social skills.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Outgoing, caring and patient approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out learning activities with a student.
• With the classroom teacher, apply strategies to manage behaviour.
• Work with the student and peers to boost learning, independence and social skills.
• Take over full classroom management duties on occasion to support the teacher and student.
• For students with health or physical needs, assist with tasks like medications, feeding, toileting, movement and record-keeping as required.
• Other reasonably requested duties as required.
