Job summary

Wakatipu High School is seeking a specialist teacher aide for a permanent position commencing on Term 4, 2026. The role is 31 hours 15 minutes per week, 0845 to 1530 including a 30 minute unpaid break, Monday to Friday, term-time only.

Every second week there is an additional paid hour meeting. The successful candidate will need to: Carry out learning activities with a student, work with the classroom teacher to manage behaviour, boost learning and social skills, take over full classroom

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
• Ability to work one-to-one or in small groups within a classroom setting.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out learning activities with a student.
• Assist with behaviour management using agreed strategies.
• Support learning, independence and social skills in students.
• Occasionally take over full classroom management to support the teacher.
• Assist with health-related tasks and keep records as required.
• Other duties as reasonably required.
