Job summary

Wakatipu High School is seeking a specialist teacher aide for a permanent position commencing on Term 4 2026. The role is 31 hours 15 minutes per week, 0845 to 1530, Monday to Friday, term-time only, with an extra paid hour every second week for a meeting.

The successful candidate will work with ORS-funded students and assist with medications and daily care where required. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, caring, and capable of supporting students in or alongside mainstream classes,

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting students with special needs and implementing learning plans.
• Ability to manage behaviour with agreed strategies alongside teachers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Carry out learning activities with a student
• Assist with health tasks and monitor records for students with needs
• Support one-to-one or small-group learning in sessions with the teacher
• Take over full classroom management when required
• Follow ORS-funded programmes to enable attendance and learning
