Responsibilities

New Zealand Labour Hire is seeking a skilled and experienced Telehandler Operator to join our team on a busy site in Hobsonville. This role offers flexible work opportunities in the construction and plant machinery operations sector. As a Telehandler Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maneuvering telehandlers on a major construction site, ensuring safe and efficient material handling and positioning. This is an essential role that contributes directly to the productivity and safety standards of our construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate telehandlers safely and efficiently on construction sites, following all health and safety regulations and site-specific protocols
• Position and place materials, equipment and loads with precision to meet project requirements
• Perform pre-operation inspections and daily maintenance checks on telehandler equipment
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, ground personnel and other team members to ensure coordinated operations
• Adhere to load capacity limits and weight distribution guidelines to prevent equipment damage and ensure site safety
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and report any mechanical issues or damage promptly
• Follow all site safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
• Adapt to changing site conditions and priorities whilst maintaining productivity standards

What we're looking for

• Current and valid Telehandler ticket or certification (or equivalent qualification demonstrating competency)
• Proven experience operating telehandlers on construction sites, preferably in a commercial or industrial environment
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to plant machinery operation and construction sites
• Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions clearly
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in varying weather conditions
• A reliable and punctual work ethic with flexibility to work on casual assignments
• Experience with other plant machinery operation would be advantageous
