VISETECH Electrical is a Hamilton-based electrical contractor founded in 2015. We serve homeowners, businesses, property managers and developers across the Waikato.

Our team blends classic electrical craft with modern low-voltage work — CCTV, structured cabling, EV charging and solar — so a single contractor can take a project from rough-in to commissioning.

Position Summary

VISETECH Limited is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to design, implement, integrate, test and optimise telecommunications and network infrastructure across residential, commercial and industrial projects.

The role will focus on structured data and fibre-optic networks, IP-based communication and security systems, telecommunications equipment and associated smart building connectivity. The Telecommunications Engineer will provide engineering support from system planning and technical design through to commissioning, testing, troubleshooting and ongoing optimisation.

Key Responsibilities
1. Telecommunications Network Design and Planning
  • Assess client requirements and site conditions and develop suitable telecommunications and data network solutions.
  • Plan structured cabling, fibre-optic and IP network infrastructure for residential, commercial and industrial projects.
  • Prepare system layouts, equipment specifications, network diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Determine appropriate telecommunications equipment, cabling, network architecture and connection requirements.
2. Data and Fibre-Optic Infrastructure
  • Design and oversee the implementation of Cat6/Cat6a structured cabling and single-mode and multi-mode fibre-optic systems.
  • Configure and commission network racks, patch panels, switches and associated telecommunications equipment.
  • Conduct network and cable performance testing, including Fluke certification and fibre testing.
  • Diagnose transmission faults, connectivity issues and network performance problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
3. IP Communication and Security Systems
  • Design, configure and integrate IP-based CCTV, access control and security communication systems.
  • Configure network connectivity between cameras, NVR/DVR equipment, remote monitoring platforms and client networks.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot network, transmission and communication faults affecting security and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure reliable and secure transmission of voice, video and data across connected systems.
4. VoIP and Communication Systems
  • Install, configure and support PABX, VoIP and related IP communication systems.
  • Assist with network configuration, system integration and troubleshooting of voice and data communication services.
  • Test system performance and resolve telecommunications equipment and connectivity issues.
5. Smart Building and IoT Connectivity
  • Provide telecommunications and network engineering support for smart home, building automation, EV charging and energy-monitoring systems where these systems rely on IP, data or communications infrastructure.
  • Design and troubleshoot communication links between connected devices, controllers, gateways and network infrastructure.
  • Support integration of IoT devices with existing telecommunications and data networks.
6. Testing, Commissioning and Technical Support
  • Conduct system commissioning, performance testing, fault diagnosis and technical troubleshooting.
  • Analyse network performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, capacity and system performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, network diagrams, test records and as-built documentation.
  • Liaise with electricians, technicians, suppliers, clients and other project stakeholders regarding telecommunications requirements and system integration.
  • Ensure telecommunications work is completed in accordance with relevant New Zealand and industry standards.
Requirements
  • 1. Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Network Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
