Job summary

Scania New Zealand seeks a Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our Waikato workshop. You’ll handle repair, maintenance and diagnostics on trucks and equipment, working nose-to-tail with genuine Scania parts in a supportive team environment.

You should have NZQF Level 4 or 3+ years of proven heavy-vehicle experience, a commitment to quality workmanship, and good English communication. We offer training, PPE, and a pathway to career growth within Scania NZ.

Qualifications

• NZQF Level 4 qualification or 3+ years experience as Heavy Vehicle Technician
• Practical experience with heavy vehicle repairs and diagnostics
• Strong communication skills in English
• Commitment to quality workmanship and Scania values
• Pre-employment checks (police checks & medical) expected

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance, mechanical diagnostics and servicing of vehicles and equipment
• Engine rebuilds and servicing
• Health and safety compliance to maintain a safe work environment

About the role

Location: Waikato, some project-based travel may be required to other workshop or training facilities across New Zealand
Type: Full-time permanent
Pay rate: $39.00 - $41.00 per hour
Minimum guaranteed hours: At least 42.5 hours weekly

Life on the tools

The role will require you to compete tasks including but not limited to

• Repair & maintenance, mechanical diagnostics and service of vehicles & equipment
• Work on all aspects of repairs & maintenance, including engine re-builds & servicing
• Committed to health & safety promoting and fostering a safe work environment

About you

You will have a relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification or have at least 3 years proven experience working as a Heavy Vehicle Technician
