Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Be the face of a trusted New Zealand business

Are you an experienced Technician or tradesperson who enjoys practical problem-solving, working with customers and having plenty of variety in your day?

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established, family-owned New Zealand business specialising in commercial automated door systems. With more than 25 years of industry experience and a strong reputation for dependable service, the company is continuing to grow its Otago operation.

You’ll be based at the Dunedin satellite branch, working as part of a small, supportive team while managing jobs throughout Dunedin and the wider Otago region. This is a hands‑on role where your technical ability, communication skills and attitude will all make a real difference.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for servicing, fault‑finding, repairing and installing commercial automated door systems across a range of customer sites.

Your work will include:

  • Diagnosing faults across mechanical and electrical components
  • Servicing and repairing automated doors and associated equipment
  • Completing installations, maintenance and preventative servicing
  • Travelling to customer sites across Dunedin and wider Otago
  • Managing your own workload and making sound decisions in the field
  • Providing customers with clear advice and practical solutions
  • Completing job reports, service details and required paperwork
  • Keeping the wider team updated on job progress and follow‑up requirements
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety, workmanship and site presentation

You’ll be working closely with a small team, so being reliable, approachable and willing to pitch in will be important.

Represent a great brand

As the local face of the business, you’ll have regular contact with commercial and industrial clients. Strong spoken and written English is essential, along with the confidence to explain technical information clearly and professionally.

You’ll need an easy‑going, customer‑focused attitude and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues. This is a role for someone who takes pride in being helpful, presentable and easy to deal with.

What we’re looking for

You may come from an electrical, mechanical, industrial or another relevant trade background. Transferable experience will be considered for candidates who have the right technical mindset and practical ability.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Several years’ experience in a service, maintenance, mechanical, electrical or industrial trade
  • Strong fault‑finding and hands‑on problem‑solving skills
  • The ability to work confidently both independently and within a small team
  • Excellent communication skills and good written English
  • A relaxed, professional and customer‑focused approach
  • Confidence representing a well‑known company on customer sites
  • Basic computer and administration skills for job reports and service documentation
  • A reliable work history and commitment to quality
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • A full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence, manual and automatic
  • A current electrical practising licence, highly advantageous but not essential

This role is not suited to someone at entry level. We’re looking for an experienced Technician or tradesperson who can hit the ground running and build strong relationships throughout the Otago region.

What’s on offer?
  • Competitive wages based on your experience and technical capability
  • Overtime rates
  • Stable Monday‑to‑Friday work
  • Birthday leave
  • The opportunity to join an established, respected New Zealand business
  • Strong technical and operational support from an experienced wider team
  • A varied role with autonomy, customer contact and plenty of hands‑on work
  • The chance to help grow and represent the Dunedin branch
Ready for a change?

If you’re an experienced Technician or tradesperson with strong communication skills, a practical approach and the confidence to represent a trusted brand, we’d like to hear from you.

Applicants must be currently based in New Zealand, have full working rights and be able to pass pre‑employment drug and criminal checks.
