Tegel Foods Ltd in New Plymouth is seeking a proactive Technical Coordinator to support food safety, quality systems and regulatory compliance across the site. You will work with Operations, Product Development and auditors to uphold high standards and drive continuous improvement.

The role requires a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, plus 2+ years in a technical/quality environment. A strong stakeholder network and clear communication are essential.

We're looking for a proactive and relationship-focusedTechnical Coordinator to join our New Plymouth team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring our food safety, quality, animal welfare, and compliance systems are operating effectively and meeting both regulatory and customer requirements.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with Operations, Product Development, auditors, and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and foster a strong food safety and quality culture across the site.

What you'll be doing

• Providing day-to-day technical support to the business
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, animal health, and welfare programmes
• Leading and contributing to technical investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Coordinating calibration, validation, and verification activities
• Supporting internal audits, regulatory requirements, and certification processes
• Delivering food safety, allergen, and quality-related training to site teams
• Analysing data, preparing reports, and contributing to risk assessment activities
• Building strong relationships with operational teams, auditors, customers, and certifying bodies

What you'll bring

• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or at least 2 years' experience in a technical, quality, or food safety environment (preferred but not essential), or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, quality systems, auditing, microbiology, or food technology
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to influence and build effective relationships across all levels of a business
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for maintaining high standards
