Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst to join a major transformation programme in Wellington. You will bridge business requirements with technical delivery across APIs, integrations, data flows, and migrations.

Qualifications

Senior Technical Business Analyst – Core Transformation
Wellington | Major Transformation Programme | Complex Technical Environment

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Technical Business Analyst to join a significant multi-year transformation programme focused on modernising core technology and building new service capabilities.

This is a highly technical BA role, working across APIs, integrations, data flows, system dependencies and migration, helping bridge the gap between business requirements and technical delivery. You’ll work closely with developers, testers, solution designers and business stakeholders to turn complex requirements into clear, developer-ready outcomes.

The role

• Analysing and documenting APIs, integrations and service behaviours


• Translating business needs into clear technical requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria


• Mapping data flows, source and target structures, transformation logic and business rules


• Supporting data mapping, data quality, reconciliation and migration readiness


• Identifying system dependencies and upstream/downstream impacts


• Working closely with technical teams to reduce ambiguity, rework and clarification cycles


• Analysing current-state processes and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement


• Managing requirements and dependencies across multiple programme workstreams

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced Technical BA who is comfortable getting into the detail while still understanding the wider business and programme context.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience in technical or business analysis


• Strong experience across APIs and system integrations


• Good working knowledge of SQL, including running and adapting queries


• Strong data and process modelling capability


• Experience analysing data mappings, transformation logic and data quality


• Ability to write clear, testable requirements and acceptance criteria


• Strong systems thinking and an understanding of complex dependencies


• Experience working across large transformation or technology programmes


• Strong stakeholder engagement across both technical and business teams


• Experience with JIRA and Confluence advantageous


• Financial services or another complex, highly regulated environment would be beneficial

About you

You’re naturally curious and comfortable working through ambiguity. You know how to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions and investigate gaps in existing documentation. You can move between detailed technical conversations and business discussions and build strong relationships quickly.
