Westpac New Zealand is seeking a senior technology expert to lead engineering delivery for Dynamics 365 & Power Platform, including Azure ELZ foundation and enterprise AI control plane. You will own the platform's strategy, governance, and delivery roadmap across the bank, enabling world-class capabilities at scale.

You will collaborate with CTO, TALs, and programme leadership, align with ITSA controls and APRA/SOX compliance, and drive licensing, environment consolidation, and cost management

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

Senior technology expert leading the engineering delivery, capacity management, coordination, cost management, and technology roadmap for the Dynamics 365 & Power Platform ecosystem - including its Azure Enterprise Landing Zone (ELZ) foundation and enterprise AI control plane; is the de-facto technology owner for D365 & Power Platform across the bank.

The role provides technical expertise and enterprise governance for a platform that underpins key banking capability and services at enterprise scale and to a world-class standard. The role is accountable for success of D365 & Power Platform as a single enterprise ecosystem, not a set of parallel, disconnected applications.

• Technology owner of a critical enterprise-wide platform - Dynamics 365 & Power Platform, including its underlying Azure Enterprise Landing Zone (ELZ) and enterprise AI control plane - that underpins the contact centre, Customer 360, knowledge management, lending, and complaints capability across the bank.
• Collaborating with the Head of Product Engineering, D365 related TALs and Leads and programme leadership across the D365 & Power Platform portfolio, the role ensures the platform’s “World Class” vision, strategy, and delivery roadmap are supported and successful.
• It aligns tools, practices, and standards with WNZL capabilities (ITSA controls, APRA/SOX compliance, secure-by-design) and manages the lifecycle of the D365 & Power Platform ecosystem - environments, connectors, ALM, and the Azure Enterprise Landing Zone - consolidating duplicated instances, subscriptions, and licensing into a single, secure, audit-ready foundation that meets strategic business needs and customer value outcomes.
• The role anticipates and manages critical drivers of scale/performance of the platforms (e.g. Account/Contact data remediation, the enterprise AI control plane spanning Azure, licensing and storage optimisation) for optimal outcomes and supports squads in adhering to WNZL’s architecture and engineering governance.
• Owns and operates the enterprise AI control plane for D365 & Power Platform - governing Copilot, agents, AI Builder, and automation capabilities across environments, with safe orchestration, identity boundaries, and risk controls.
• Engaging stakeholders - the CIO, programme sponsors, and business owners across the platform’s consuming programmes - and keeping them informed about the D365 & Power Platform technology delivery roadmap is crucial.
• The role collaborates with stakeholders across Westpac Group, Technology, business, Microsoft (as strategic vendor), and customers. It owns and manages the Microsoft D365 vendor relationship centrally - licensing, roadmap alignment, escalations, and co-innovation opportunities - and develops pathways that make interacting with the D365 & Power Platform ecosystem easy for all stakeholders, prioritising continuous improvement and feedback.
• The role actively supports squads in adhering to WNZL’s governance processes, including the Architecture Review Board and platform steering forums.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

• At least 5+ years of professional engineering experience, including hands-on or leadership experience in Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure platform management.
• Proven history of enterprise cost management, including licensing rationalisation, Dataverse storage optimisation, and environment consolidation.
• Experience managing third-party service providers, ideally within a Microsoft enterprise vendor relationship (licensing, roadmap, escalations, co-innovation).
• Proven ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, from delivery squads through to CIO / executive level.
• Experience managing large and critical Dynamics 365 (or equivalent enterprise CRM/case management platform) implementations at scale.
• Experience managing complex financial arrangements involving multiple budget owners and finance teams, e.g. cross-programme contribution or funding models.
• Experience managing demand from multiple sources hitting constrained resources - balancing a shared platform team against the needs of several concurrent programmes.
• Working knowledge of platform governance and compliance in a regulated environment (e.g. APRA/SOX, data sovereignty, secure-by-design).
• Familiarity with Azure landing zone architecture and cloud governance - subscription/tenant design, network and identity segregation, IaC, and monitoring - as applied to an Enterprise Landing Zone (ELZ).
• An appreciation for AI control plane concepts and governance (orchestration, identity boundaries, risk controls) for Copilot, agents, and automation across Dynamics 365, Power Platform.
