Job summary

Waituna West School invites applications for a confident, relational tumuaki to lead our full primary school. This teaching principal role includes a 0.4 classroom component for Year 6–8 learners.

You will collaborate with staff, whānau and a dedicated board to continue high-quality teaching and learning, honour our ACRES values, and shape a future that blends country living with urban amenities. A schoolhouse is available if required.

The board is seeking a confident, relational and forward‑thinking tumuaki to lead our school. We’re looking for someone who will embrace our rural character, values and traditions while working in partnership with our staff, whānau and board to build on what is strong and shape an exciting future.

You’ll be a highly relational, visible and approachable leader who is genuine, collaborative and skilled at building and sustaining strong, trusting relationships. You’ll bring warmth, energy and the ability to communicate clearly, think strategically and navigate change thoughtfully.

As an educational leader, you’ll bring strong curriculum knowledge and a commitment to high‑quality teaching and learning. You’ll advocate for our learners and value the different ways our students thrive. We’re particularly interested in hearing about the curriculum strengths and passions you would bring to complement and further enrich our existing programmes.
