Yoobee Colleges Ltd. Wellington Central campus seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant for the Master in Business Informatics. The role is 13 hours per week, with 5 hours of in-class teaching on Saturdays and Sundays and 3 hours for coordination and prep.

The position is a 12-month fixed-term, starting mid-January 2027, based at our Wellington Central campus.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting postgraduate students or research activities is advantageous.
• Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle, Turnitin) and academic tools.
• Ability to engage with a diverse postgraduate cohort and uphold academic integrity.

Responsabilités

• Assist lecturers in classroom preparation, tutorials, and lab sessions.
• Provide student support during and outside class hours as scheduled.
• Guide students on tools and platforms related to coursework in software engineering and Business Informatics.
• Assist with grading, moderation prep, and administrative follow-up under faculty supervision.
• Help organize student presentations, milestones, and assessment events.
• Support in setting up online platforms and class resources.
• Attend classes on weekends or evenings as required.

Teaching Assistant - Master in Business Informatics

Please note: The target start date is mid-January 2027. This is a 12-month fixed-term, part-time role based at our Wellington Central campus, working 13 hours per week: 5 hours of in-class teaching each Saturday and Sunday, plus 3 hours for coordination meetings and preparation, scheduled flexibly across the week.

About the role:

The Teaching Assistant will assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning support, and student engagement for the Master in Business Informatics Programme. The Teaching Assistant will support lecturers and students to foster a positive and effective academic environment, contribute to the administrative and practical aspects of teaching, and uphold academic standards aligned with Yoobee’s values and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Assist lecturers in classroom preparation, tutorial facilitation, and lab sessions.
• Provide student support during and outside of class hours (as scheduled).
• Guide students on the use of tools, platforms, and technologies related to coursework in software engineering and Business Informatics.
• Assist with grading, moderation preparation, and administrative follow-up under faculty supervision.
• Help organize student presentations, project milestones, and other assessment-related events.
• Support in setting up online platforms, communication channels, and class resources.
• Attend classes on weekends or evenings as required to provide in-session technical and academic support.
• Help identify students who may require additional support and refer them to appropriate channels.

Required Skills/Experience:

• AMaster’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related discipline (essential)
• Prior teachingassistance, tutoring, mentoring, or relevant professional experience (preferred)

Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle, Turnitin) and academic tools

Experience supporting postgraduate students or research activities isadvantageous

Strong communicationand interpersonal skills

Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage with a diverse postgraduate cohort

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Understanding of academic integrity and research ethics
