Job summary

Hamilton East School is seeking a motivated kaiako (certificated teacher) to teach across Years 1–8 in a dynamic primary/intermediate setting. The role covers English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, and The arts.

Candidates should hold NZ teacher registration and demonstrate ability to foster positive relationships, inclusive practice, and engagement for all learners including ELL.

Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum.
  • Ability to build strong, learner-focused relationships.
  • Experience with structured literacy and the updated mathematics curriculum.
  • Inclusive practices for learners with special needs and English Language Learners (ELL).
  • Commitment to weaving te reo Māori into daily practice and delivering formal reo instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teach across Years 1–8 (primary to intermediate) and multiple subjects as listed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports every student to reach their potential.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement culturally responsive teaching and inclusive practices.

  • Te Ao Maaori and Reo: Commitment to weaving te reo Maaori into daily practice, as well as delivering formal reo instruction.
